Been busy with a slew of commissions this week, so not much thought went into this week’s choice other than it came up in the car the other day during one of my many, many trips to the art store, and I forgot how much I love this era of music, discovered largely when I watched the film Downtown 81. The film features a lot of No Wave music, a post-punk genre where there is no genre, just a mishmash of musical influences from punk to ska to jazz to noise.

This tune, in particular, has an infusion of ska, a genre for which I was an acolyte during some of my more formative years.

At any rate, here’s Kid Creole and the Coconuts.

Enjoy.
